Jefferson Barracks was once the largest military base in the U.S. From its establishment in 1826, until after WW II, most of our greatest military heroes served in some capacity there. We will spend our entire day today, commemorating the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, visiting the Jefferson Barracks park, museums and cemetery. We will hear fascinating stories about "pneumonia gulch", the first successful parachute jump, Medal of Honor winners, and much more. We will visit the Old Ordnance Room and the Old Powder Room. We will tour the new Ordnance Depot and the new Telephone Museum, and we will be amazed at the professionalism as we tour the new Missouri Civil War Museum. Lunch will be from several choices at the award-winning Cafe Telegraph.
